What to Expect from the biggies ? Prediction for 2012

Yet another spectacular year for technology has come to an end. A brand new year has already started on a promising note to bring new changes that would obviously make our life bigger and better. The developments in the tech s and software companies were impressive in the previous year and we can expect the same in the coming year. There were many turn-rounds in these companies which made the headlines and we are pretty sure it will continue this year.

As these companies plan to make the headlines, we look into what the biggies might have in store for us in the year 2011.

Google

Google will definitely be the one to rise. It seems evident that Google will keep up its progress from the previous year. Other things apart, we can expect stupendous rise of Google+ and Android.

google+
Google+ already have 200 million users. Predictions are made that by the end of 2012, Google+ will have around 300

million users. To fight Facebook, Google will obviously bring in changes to please their users but they will also force people to use Google+. We can expect Google+ integrated more with Gmail, Youtube and other Google products. Much can be expected as Google+ gets incorporated with Google Chrome. In this way, Google users will be directly or indirectly using Google+ increasing its usage.

android

Android, on the other hand can be expected to be the people’s choice. As far as Android is concerned, it is expected to be a match-winner in all respect taking over 50% of the Tablet market after ruling the mobile phones. We can see Ice cream Sandwich in a wide range of phones. Moreover, a new Android version is more likely.

Not to miss, we really look forward to Android powered Motorola Tablets to rival iPad2 and Kindle fire hitting the market along with Google TV.

Facebook

Definitely, this wasn’t the start Facebook wanted for 2012. Just at the start of the new year, Facebook seems to be making the headlines for all the wrong reasons. As we are predicting what Facebook would offer us in 2012, we will try to keep it short and just say that Facebook has been attacked by a Trojan Ramnit which has been stealing user-names and passwords from numerous accounts.

Talking about the predictions, the much talked about topic for Facebook seems to remain the much awaited Facebook IPO worth $100 billion. The Facebook’s potential IPO is considered to be as big as Google’s IPO back in 2004. It can be a sign, Facebook now wants to prove itself as a real sustainable company.

Apart from the IPO, every eyes will be on the Facebook Advertisement business. With the still increasing Facebook users, which now is supposed to reach 800 million, Facebook Ad business is to skyrocket. Facebook would definitely try to make a huge fortune from its advertisements.

Twitter

At present, Twitter has created it’s own space in the Social networking arena. The popularity of Twitter continued to increase in 2011 with 300 million users as of 2011, generating 300 million tweets per day. Twitter went to major changes in the previous year, including the design along with the introduction of activity, searches and many more. But to date, Twitter has done a little in advertising with promoted tweets.

twitter brands

In 2012, we expect Twitter to get serious with advertising. The initial response seems promising with the introduction of brands page and redesign. Also, Twitter’s automated ad system, which is what would prove the company can serve ads at massive scale, is still in beta test mode.

Yahoo

There doesn’t seem much to talk about Yahoo looking back its last year. But the coming year can be rejuvenating year for Yahoo to revive itself. With a brand new CEO, Scott Thompson, we do expect Yahoo to go through changes that would help Yahoo survive and regain its place in the Web.

With Thompson handling all the responsibilities, we expect Yahoo to make peace with its rivals and instead join hands to work as partners. This can be Thompson’s initial strategy to bring Yahoo back on track. Later, as things get easier for Yahoo, we do expect Thompson to come up with innovative ideas as he did with Paypal.

Apple

With the progress Apple made in 2011, every eyes will be on Apple, more precisely Tim Cook. After the demise of Steve Jobs, which was one of the biggest stories in 2011, every tech enthusiasts will be keen to look into what Apple is going to bring? Moreover, there will be direct comparison if Tim Cook stands par Steve Jobs, or he falters. Though Cook handled Apple for most of the 2011 as the acting CEO, but now he will be under intense scrutiny as a full fledge Apple CEO.

For Apple it is a pattern emerging? After the success of iPhone 3G in 2008, iPhone 3GS in 2009, iPhone 4 in 2010 and iPhone 4S in 2011, without much speculation it should be iPhone 5. The date of release however will be a concern as it would be interesting to see if Apple revert to the summer release date it used for everything except the iPhone 4S or will it revert to an autumn release in September or October?

iphone 5 and ipad 3

As the trend continues, a better iPad3 is expected. Apart from the improvements in the insides and the cameras, the biggest question would be the inclusion of Retina Display. With a large number of competitors in the Tablet business, the Retina Display would keep the rivals far away. Questions to, If Apple would rival the 7- inch tablet would be ‘No’ as Apple would consider a better, more advanced iPad and rather bring a cut down price iPad to rival the 7 inch tablet.

With Google TV in talks, we won’t let the rumors of Apple TV runaway. As Jobs suggested he had finally cracked the problem of the TV, it will definitely make news in the year 2012. But it’s still time for Apple’s tilt at living room domination.
